Yes. A new construction inspection gives you an independent, written list of defects and incomplete work to give the builder before closing. Municipal inspections check code minimums at specific stages; they are not a quality review of the finished home.
What new homes commonly have wrong
Fast schedules and many different trades mean small mistakes are common: missing attic insulation, roof flashing issues, grading that sends water toward the foundation, miswired outlets, loose fixtures and incomplete sealing. None of these are unusual, and all are easier to get fixed before you close.
When to schedule
Before the builder's final walk-through or closing is the most common timing. Some buyers also schedule an inspection before the one-year builder warranty ends.
Builders and inspections
Check your purchase contract for any rules about third-party inspections and access, and coordinate the appointment with the builder's sales or construction team.
